Spending on Green IT: Who, What, and Why

Currently, budgeting for green initiatives and adoption of green best practices is being led primarily by innovative and leading-edge enterprises. This suggests an adoption curve that is still in its infancy. However, there is significant opportunity for growth in the green market.

Info-Tech has identified a large gap between interest in green IT and implementation of environmentally sound best practices. Specifically, 25% of IT leaders are "very" or "extremely" concerned about energy efficiency and environmental responsibility, but fewer than 10% have actually achieved a "very" or "extremely" green state with respect to their IT operations.
